Chinese Robotaxi Companies Expand Smart Service Boundaries as CaoCao Mobility Launches AI Ride-Hailing in Three Cities
On September 9, CaoCao Mobility announced the official launch of its AI ride-hailing service jointly developed with Doubao in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. The service further connects AI Agents with real mobility services, enabling users to complete destination consultation, route planning, and ride requests within Doubao, with CaoCao Mobility handling subsequent service fulfillment. For Chinese robotaxi companies, the integration of AI from information interaction into the actual mobility workflow provides a new practical scenario for autonomous driving services to expand user access.
The first change brought by this service lies in user touchpoints. When users inquire about destinations, local lifestyle information, and other content within Doubao, the system can generate travel plans based on specific locations and connect them with vehicle services. Operations originally scattered across information search, route planning, and vehicle selection are integrated into a single interactive workflow, gradually shifting mobility services from active user search to demand-based intelligent matching.
At the service level, AI ride-hailing can match premium cars, intelligent “Da Bai” vehicles, and other models according to user requirements such as ample space and pre-trip ventilation. In parts of Suzhou and Hangzhou, CaoCao Mobility has also piloted accessible services-when the system identifies user requests for wheelchairs or mobility assistance, it can recommend corresponding service options. Meanwhile, leveraging intelligent vehicle control capabilities, users can preset preferences such as routes, air-conditioning temperature, ventilation modes, and music styles, allowing vehicles to make preparations before pickup.
Behind the extension of AI capabilities to the user end is CaoCao Mobility’s existing platform operations foundation. As of June 30, 2026, the company’s service network covered 215 cities across China, with over 1.9 billion travel services completed cumulatively; over the same period, average monthly active users reached 44.6 million and average monthly active drivers reached 758,000. The platform’s scaled capabilities in supply-demand matching, vehicle management, and user services provide the foundation for AI services to connect with real capacity.
As the most important commercialization vehicle for Geely Holding Group’s Robotaxi, CaoCao Mobility is also extending these capabilities to its autonomous driving business. As of June 30, 2026, CaoCao Mobility had deployed 140 second-generation Robotaxis. As an important component of Chinese robotaxi companies’ business layout, Robotaxi does not exist solely at the vehicle level, but is gradually connected with platform dispatching, AI interaction, and operational services.
In terms of vehicle products, CaoCao Mobility continues to advance Eva Cab development. The model is China’s first natively developed purpose-built Robotaxi, adopting a no-front-passenger-seat, steering-wheel-free design, with mass production scheduled for 2027. Under current plans, the company aims to cumulatively deploy 100,000 Robotaxis by 2030. For scaled operations, the company is also planning Green Intelligent Mobility Hub facilities to provide Robotaxis with operational support including energy replenishment, cleaning, vehicle preparation, and intelligent dispatching.
International markets constitute another business extension path. In 2026, CaoCao Mobility cooperated with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and is advancing cooperation with K2 and May Mobility to explore overseas Robotaxi deployment and operations. The simultaneous promotion of domestic AI mobility services and overseas autonomous driving businesses gives the platform’s accumulated technology and operations capabilities more application scenarios.
From the AI ride-hailing service going live in three cities to the gradual connection of intelligent vehicle control, platform dispatching, and Robotaxi vehicle planning, CaoCao Mobility is extending AI from a pure information-interaction tool into an entry point connecting users with real-world mobility services. For Chinese robotaxi companies, the future buildout of robotaxi commercialization capabilities involves not only the autonomous driving vehicles themselves, but also user reach, platform operations, and service fulfillment.
